Let these days drag...

These lovely pictures (all found on random sites except for the gorgeous photo second from the top which I found on etsy which is full of equally gorgeous photos that you can order from the site), embody the kind of weekend I'm hoping to have. Long, lazy days filled with blue skies, sun, soft breezes, flowers, grass and nature (I haven't checked the weather forecast so I have no idea yet if nature wants me too). Throw in some headphones and some reading material and my gorgeous man, and I promise I'll ask for nothing more.

I've vowed to stay away from news sites, newspapers, the telly, and the radio for the entire weekend, as I don't want to fill my senses with all the negativity to be found in those mediums. Chaos reigns in the public sector at the moment and the news is filled with the idiotic antics of strikers. Teachers attacking school children for attending school, doctors and nurses putting themselves in danger for attempting to help the sick and pregnant... a scary state of affairs indeed. I thought this quote from Marino Faliero by Lord Byron perfectly sums up the mob mentality:

The sight of blood to crowds begets the thirst of more,
as the first wine-cup leads to the long revel

Pore-fect!

If you, like me, have been (un)blessed with pores you could fall into, then this will be of interest to you.

I came across this stuff and liked the pretty colours (just like a girl), and decided on impulse to give it a try. Because I have tried many similar products from top brands such as Clinique and Estee Lauder which did little, if nothing at all to improve the appearance of my pores, I'll admit to being dubious at first.

However, I am thrilled to announce that for the first time since being a wee girl, I can step out with a smooth nose - this product is just lovely!

It works as a primer, doing a polly-filler type thing I guess and it's translucent and skin toned and very silky. You apply it after your moisturiser and before your foundation - leave it for a minute and do something else like your eyes, then apply your foundation as you usually do. It works well enough for me to be able to eliminate powder over my foundation, and it also helps keeps shine away for longer. Later in the day you can touch it up if necessary - just pat it over your foundation on the problem areas.

At R285 for 22ml it's not that cheap - but a little goes surprisingly far and it's well worth every cent, I promise.

I'll definitely try other products by Benefit - they have a lovely range in very pretty packaging - take a look here.

This is how you get down.

If you're not doing it like this, you're doing it wrong. Also, how cool is his shirt?

Look what's going on in my garden...

That's right bitches! It's spring time!

Springtime excites me. It's infiniment pretty, it also means summer is very near.

I'm mostly annoying during winter. I moan, I'm grumpy, I won't leave the house unless absolutely necessary. I walk around the house lugging heaters and blankets along with me.
The house cat, Shiraz (also known as Darling, Beauty or Meow) thinks life is amazing during winter. She gets an endless supply of hotties (hot water bottles), laps to warm and blankets to squirm into (she wouldn't let me take a photo of her for this post, she thinks blogging is lame. I mean what does she know, right?).

Well hi there!

Today I closed my Facebook account, and decided to try a different type of social networking.

There is something about Facebook that has got me feeling like I'm standing on a podium in nothing but skin, with HD cameras and stage lighting trained on every pore, on every imperfection, watching my every move. And I don't get to choose my own soundtrack. And people are forced to watch me even though they don't really want to. Mystery has gone - it was seen leaving the party with Fun around midnight.

I think that this is more like letting someone read your diary. Not your secret-keep-under-the-mattress-and-wear-the-key-to-the-lock-around-your-neck-always kind of diary, the type of diary where you can express yourself and say whatever you like and in all likelihood nobody is reading it. So your stuff is out there, but not Status Update kind of out there. You know?

I'll use it the way I used my school homework diary back, well, quite a long time ago, nevermind when. I'll stick pretty pictures of things I love on it, and write poems, and tell you who I love today and anything else I feel like sharing.

Love x
